Yeah, pretty much at 30 it all goes away. I'm 33 and I don't have any creative ideas.

Bullshit. The brain is an ever evolving organ. Therefore if you use it, you continue to develop it. This whole age superstition really pisses me off because I spent my 20's struggling with mental illness instead of doing all the creative things I've could have done. If by the time I regained my sanity (around 29), my creative life was over, I would have blown my brains out. And at 29, I was actually very suicidal. I was terrified that my mental illness had dumbed me down, seeing I never had much going for me other than my intelligence. So I underwent numerous testing and other evaluations. The result: my IQ was 15 points higher than when I was 21 (165, up from 150), and there's no indication I am any less mentally capable. What's more is all that experience from being crazy gave me tons to draw from in my creative pursuits. Three fucking cheers for insanity. To liberally paraphrase the late Hunter S. Thompson: I can't recommend it, but it worked for me.

I'm 34 now. I play multiple instruments, sing and write music, write fiction and poetry, paint, and do philosophy, among other things. I also teach special needs children, which can be very demanding of own's creativity. Of course, it's a bit of a trade-off: I haven't been on a date in over 9 years (no one wants to date a brilliant yet thoroughly crazy chick and I've long accepted that) and virtually have no social life (don't like other people much anyhow). But I am very creative. In fact, being creative is the only thing I do well, so I don't mind not having the other things.

If other people lose their creativity as they get older, I wouldn't wish to speculate why (at the risk of being insulting). I just know it hasn't been my experience, thankfully.

Perhaps at age 34 you lose your ability to detect sarcasm?
