Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere

Looking for a vintage-style tremolo six-hole bridge. I've checked out the MannMade, The Super Vee BladeRunner, and a MusicLily. I need 2-7/32" (56.3 mm) mounting hole spacing.

Just curious what people have done here for these kinds of bridges. The MusicLily is half the price, some people like them. Hard to say, there's not a lot of info on them and they are direct from China, but some people swear by them.

I kinda like the MannMade, they seem really simple.

I've had both Fender American and MIM vintage bridges. They worked about the same but the American had slightly wider string spacing.
I had a back and forth with Warmoth with questions for the Tele Deluxe, they don't do two-post, only vintage six-hole, due to the body build and stability. You can do this with a Tele custom, but it starts to get weird in the design and they don't offer WRHB slots in that build. So, I'd have to rethink the entire guitar just to get a 2 post system and I don't think it's really worth it.

I miss having a trem bridge for the little things you can do with them, but who knows, one day maybe I'll be a better guitarist. I'm not sure it matters all that much, though.

The other option in my head is to do a wild build on a Jazzmaster body with humbuckers or P90s, or a combo of the two, with a Wilkinson trem bridge.

I’m in the same boat. My band sounds way better than with any drummer we’ve ever played with. But yeah, it’s a lot work. I’ve always been the guy who records band practice and emails the mixes to all band members, so it doesn’t make a huge difference!
I program drums in Reaper so I can just bring new songs as Reaper files then record the band playing along to that and then I’m able to rearrange things at home and cut different parts together, since everything is synced up.
I pretty much gave up on trying to add synths or samples as this is something you can spent way too much time on.
I was in a band years ago and we thought it would be cool to add a laptop for sequences, and then we added a keyboard, on top of that we had like 7 guitars between two guitarists. Anyway, our songs were getting dumber and we ditched all the computer stuff and paired down the guitars (I only had 1 bass, not my fault) and all of a sudden, we were writing good music again and have much less awkward moments playing live. After that I never wanted to incorporate laptops or sequencers into my music because you're absolutely right, you start managing machines instead of making music. It takes a certain kind of skill and musicianship to pull this off and I ain't got it.

I’d never bring a laptop or an interface to a stage,
I find this a pretty weird ideology these days. A small lappy plugged into a PCDI running reaper or something is just the easiest and most reliable way to handle any tracks, drum machines or sequences, and of you have both, no better option. You can load your whole set up and use markers to skip around if you change your song order. Everything is locked up, if you need multiple outs, easy peasy. I used to think it looked dorky, but i'm over "laptops look dumb on stage" thing... and I'm a dork.
now it just seems like the path of least resistance.

Yeah, multi track outputs, video, midi, click tracks and uhh you could even send lyrics and sheet music to a prompter.
There’s a fb group that I check sometimes, it’s mostly coverband guys using it.
But hey, it works great for me. You can create scenes and shows and then tell each song to either stop at the end or run through the whole set or use a foot switch to start and stop.
this is actually pretty rad.
Appreciate the feedback from folks with similar experiences. Adopting a drum a machine was a necessity but made us sound better. Much better. Earlier shows were drum machine and us on guitar/bass/vocals. I enjoyed that but it took time to prepare and then anxiety if it crashes. So the laptop came in for backup, and since we're bringing it, why not use it for some synths... and so on. At this point some of the songs (maybe a third) need synth so it ain't going away. I'm thinking about options for a minimal hardware setup, which leads me to my next small question:

Anyone here familiar with the ALESIS SR-18? Specifically the bass sequencer. We already use the SR-16 (no kidding) and most of our songs that do have synth have one minimal part. I'm curious if the bass section is monophonic or can one program "non-bass" type synth parts to play a small external synth, e.g. a Volca?

Just watched a demo vid and it seems monophonic. It also seems like if you wanted to recreate the theme to fresh Prince of Bel Air this is the unit for you.

I have an HR-16 so Seinfeld is covered. Might be nice to stretch out a little.
