So sorry to read. Was always good company, and added a lot to so many fine records. Safe journey.

They were great showmen but their moments of shtick (Dallas stepping up behind Travis to fret a guitar solo while Travis picked it) didn't undermine the genuine emotional stakes of the music.
I'm actually a total sucker for that shtick-y, brotherly synergy of their fretboard fingering reach-around. (sorry...) I only got to see them 3 times here in Portland, and saw them do that trick every time, and I loved it every time.
I think my favorite Sadies moment was bringing my older brother to see them play a very small club In Edmonton, and he hadn't seen them. It was dark black die-if-you-stay-outside winter, I think a weeknight. There were candles on the tables. The Sadies moved through their first set, building up steam like they always did, and when they went into a perfect version "I Wasn't Born to Follow", nailing the harmonies, my brother and I looked at each other with the same "can you fucking believe how good this is?!" expression on our faces.
Great story and memory, I can relate.

I don't know if anyone's read his memoir "Sing Backwards and Weep", but I did and came to the conclusion it was amazing he even made it to 57. Very well written book which pulls no punches. R.I.P.

RIP one time FM Chris Garges (cgarges, who's post go back to the Archived era of the forum). Also a big Tape Op contributor, I appreciated his professional advice and experience at a time when "just put a sm-57 on it" was accepted advice for recording enthusiasts. Fuck cancer.
