I was thinking about this today and Yamaha use to make these sequencers that where the size of like a paper back book. I think model was called SQM or something. There might be a Y at the beginning, I don.t remeber.

A local Craigslister has a Fender Vibro-King up for a pretty good price. I am tempted to try the real-deal reverb and tremolo and simpler circuit immediacy thing. I generally like Mesa amps and lots of headroom and bells and whistles to mess with but who knows. Anyone have experience with the VK? Will a heavy right hand and strong pickups just make everything mush?

You like heavy shit? Like.. carrying it? I don't know how they sound but I moved one around a practice space and fuck me. But I hate twins for that reason so whatever,

Tell me about hardware sequencers. MIDI.
I'd like to move away from the laptop, especially live.
Drum machine and some synth.
One thing to keep in mind is that all of the different brands/ecosystems have really different ways of doing things. So you might want to put some time into watching a lot of youtube deep dives on different models and see if any of the particular workflows click for you.
I have the low end elektron model:samples box, and it's a fun couch instrument/sketchpad for sure; the model:cycles is equally cool on the low end, but if you don't connect with the elektron way of doing things they'll be frustrating. You could probably say the same about any of the peculiar quirks of MPCs/SP-xxx/etc. Maybe you'll discover that you're a tracker person?
I really like Ricky Tinez's videos, of you're interested in more granular tech details, loopop (?) goes deep.

Fantastic, not just used by students on trains.

Ramsa mixing boards? Any intel here?
Someone is selling a WR-8210 cheap on FB marketplace in my neighborhood. I've seen some comments online that they are thin sounding and crappy overall. They don't seem to fetch a good price on Reverb. I am guessing there is nothing special going on here, but I've wanted to get some sort of small board in my recording setup.

Was just watching this again and wondering about that device. Is it worth getting, or can an iPhone just as easily used for that now? Thinking of ways to make tracks while mobile, here.
Similarly, for ease of use, the Apogee Jam+ looks interesting for easy guitar to device input. Any downsides?

Thoughts?
If you're in toronto, that was meeeeeeeee
About a month ago a guy tried to GIVE me his old Ramsa SX1a. Gigantic 56 channel analog mixer with a huge amount of matrix. In a flight case and with 2 power supplies. Free. Unfortunately, I absolutely do not have space for it, nor a fork lift to get it out of the truck so I had to turn him down. I wish I had the space because they are great mixers, would be great in a recording space. Just an entire beast though.
