I know that will definitely come as good news to some folks (including me) here: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-announ ... rms-1099-k

Yeah that is nice. Hopefully it gets upped to something a bit more reasonable too, but that may be pie in the sky.

I read that, and have heard others mention this before, but can someone spell out the gist of the new tax law in layman terms as to what it actually means? Does it mean if you receive over $600 in payments in a year from Venmo, they send you a 1099-K? And you'll get one from Paypal, Zelle, and Reverb too if you exceed $600 from each of those in a year?

Yes, that's exactly what it means. HOWEVER its limited to actual sales/services transactions and doesnt affect peer-to-peer transactions. Since Venmo is supposed to be peer-to-peer only it shouldnt affect that much. But on Paypal if i'm sending you money I have to select what its for. If its for goods you have to pay a fee AND it would count towards your $600. If its just because you're a cool guy and I want to give you money, no fee, and not counted towards your $600.

I think my mid-life crisis is going to be a giant double-kick drum kit. Before I go and buy another kick drum, I'd like to see if dbl kick suits me at all. Is anyone sitting on an Iron Cobra double pedal that they're thinking of dumping? Let's make a deal.
