I would've lost it.People also need to stop covering "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Waiting Room". There are 4,000 shitty covers of each. No need for another one.

So I go to a goodwill in the recently looking for cds for a bargain price. I find the fucking dorkiest looking album ever called alternative NRG. A greenpeace album complete with the stupid monologues in the inside jacket and a the mandatory U2 and REM appearance. I look on the back and find to my surprise some pretty legite bands on there Sonic Youth, jesus and Mary chain, L7 and there are EMF those one hit wonder guys and there doing a cover of search and destroy. So pay 50 cents, I go home, pop it in my cd player, turn to search and destroy and experience thisphpBB [media]You know what search and destroy really needs the most annoying synth ever and Iggy Pops vocal delivery needs to be replaced by a guy who sounds like he cant decide if he wants to rap or sing but either way knows he is too tired to do either

All the arguments against doing a cover, or doing a cover of a really popular song, or doing a loud song quietly, are conveniently encapsulated in this performance. The piano gets used horribly, doesn't it? Between this and the Sound of Silence cover intro, it's enough to initiate rounding up all pianos and smashing them. When some dick thinks "I want class, I want gravitas, I want sincerity", the dick's subconscious/bandmates/producer says "piano, mate! That's what you want." I love pianos, but clearly so do the legion of dicks.

I much, much prefer Fine Young Cannibal's Suspicious Minds to Elvis' and it is 100% because of Roland. It's still a horribly written song, but at least the vocals don't remind me of Vegas schmaltz. Sorry King.I don't like The Beat. I'm not sure I even like The Beat as they are in FYC. But I love Roland's voice.
