Yeah, I'd be completely in on this. Love the idea of a blend. The simplest thing that popped into my mind was just like I have it right now but adding a clean blend circuit around each octave. So it would be fuzz into parallel octave up and down, and the controls would be Up-Level, Down-Level, and Master Volume. I could probably get away with that in lowish part count. Does that sound like it might scratch the itch?

By master volume, you mean the non-octaved fuzz signal? If so that sounds ideal.
That is more or less like my Foxrox except it has some external switches that effect tracking. I figure those options and other possibilities like a tone control could be left up to your judgement. Whatever fits your vision. I'd say focus on getting the right fuzz and octave circuits that really complement each other, hopefully shooting for something that sounds unique (if that is marketable).
What I've got:
I just set the switches it to the most glitchy option, but even that is tame. I was about to sell it before I learned it sounded like god's angry voice on my MS-20. That is where it lives now.
The Mu-Tron is cool, but the extra footswitch, as configured, doesn't strike me as very useful as it just kills the GR and clean signal to leave the bass. It also kinda stinks that it doesn't have a blend for the GR, just on/off, and not even footswitchable. But a blend for each is the simplest solution as 3 footswitches is a bit much. That's all nice if you need it, but plenty of powerful devices do without all that. Is also super expensive to make, with switches being among the most expensive components.

264I also have one of these and it is FANTASTIC. Kicks the shit out the Mu-tron Octave Divider I had years ago. Tracks way better and the octave down sounds better (sorry, I like the reduction of chaos in this case). It also tracks a lot better than the Boss OC-2. This 3-knob setup is great because you can turn down the dry signal if you want (though I almost always leave the dry signal at unity gain)). The cool thing about the Blue Box is that fuzz with the octave.VaticanShotglass wrote: Sun Feb 05, 2023 4:28 pm By master volume, you mean the non-octaved fuzz signal? If so that sounds ideal.

Tony, your 3 knobs would work. Thanks for even considering our wacky ideas. Another consideration to make it way more flexible would be 3 knobs and a mini switch if it can be done. Octave up volume. Octave down volume. Fuzz volume (regular pitch). And a mini switch for dry cut (kinda like the Bass Big Muff if people feel like they need the dry signal). This would take the best elements of the Octron3 AND the Blue Box while also allowing it to be just a fuzz box too.
One thing I do think the Mutron one got right was the green ringer level. It doesn't overwhelm the whole effect when it's on. Personally I could live with an on/off instead of a blend/volume knob for that if it was at that same level.
Re: Balls Effects / Balls Amplification
266FYI the octave idea is progressing slowly. Settled on a circuit and made a layout. Will likely be able to put a prototype into an enclosure by the end of the week and then we'll see what happens from there.
