Did you folks finally resolve this issue for the world?
I believe you are stirring the pot.

A total ban on smoking in enclosed public places comes into force in Scotland on Sunday. So soon!

WTF?! When I lived there, everybody smoked! Are people going to accept that there?

Well, it's worked in Ireland, and they're not too dissimilar.

Yeah, I know about Ireland. When I lived in Scotland at the end of 2004 they had just started on the whole smoking ban thing and They were using Ireland as an example.
Isn't it just like someone from England to think of Ireland and Scotland as being very similar? I think I worked with some people there who would cockpunch you for saying that.....actually, they would cockpunch any Englishman. So much animosity towards your kind there...

I said "not too dissimilar" NOT "very similar".
Quite different.

Glueman, There's a whole lot of presumptions going on here and I'm not quite sure how to begin to disentangle them. You need to think about what you've written and think why it might make you look like a bit of an idiot.

Jesus! I should have put a little funny emoticon, because I thought that it would be obvious that I was joking!
It was based on my rich British friends making fun of the Scots all of the time, or actually anything North of London, and me friends I knew in Scotland just ranting drunkenly to me about English oppresion and devolution....
I'm not an idiot....it was just a joke...I apologize....

In Washington, it's 25 feet, absurd.

When it comes to blanket smoking bans I am somewhat mystified. If people are so concerned about bars where smoking is prevelant, why not open a bar that doesn't allow it, for all the non-smokers, and capitalize on it?
