Crazy shit going on.
I wanted to contact an old friend, no phone number listed so I sent her a letter, said I've missed you it'd be cool to meet again etc., and I leave my contact info.
A few days later I get a call from some dude saying if I send her one more letter he's going to blow up my house.
So obviously I was going to send another one. But I'm thinking also this could create problems for her - maybe it has already.
I'd have to try to reach somebody who knows her and whom I know enough to trust them with this. I can think of at most two such people, we got along well but weren't close, we haven't talked in many years and they and her might not even hang out anymore. But I have to try something.
Hm.

If I were you I'd forget about it, just to make sure you don't cause her any trouble. Sure, you can answer back "apologizing" etc (not that yo did anything wrong obviously, but you know what I mean... )
I mean, that guy that called you is evidently a douchebag, you have the right to tell him to go fuck off... but not worth it.

Well forget him. I was thinking of the fact that she might be in a bad situation and I should try to alert someone if I can. Like, I already know now he opens and reads her letters. But as I said no option I'm completely certain of on how to handle that either.

It's nice from you to worry about hef but trying to help in these situations "backfires" 99% of the times.

We moved into our new place this week. It’s beautiful and we love it, but the fact that it’s on a quieter street means you hear the neighbors more. Less ambient noise, pretty thin walls. So we’ve talked about doing something basic soundproofing.
This afternoon, around 4:30, our neighbor had extremely loud sex for a really long time. Clearly, his bedroom abuts our living room. (Only heard one dude, oddly. So no clue who his partner was, or even if he had one.)
Another thing that happened this afternoon is that soundproofing became a much higher priority.

I probably mentioned this on the old PRF. When I lived in Santa Barbara in 1994 I had a bartender neighbor below me who pick up guys and bring em home to fuck. She was loud and enthusiastic. One night I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep and I felt the walls shake and I was "Oh man, Jen you gotta keep your shit down" and then I realized it was an earthquake. It was the Northridge earthquake.

I remember when my daughter was about 3, we were outside in the back alley garden on a Saturday morning and we could clearly hear a couple going at it.
Kiddo says to us: "Someone keeps saying 'Oh'."

Ha ha!
Being able to overhear it wouldn’t necessarily be a big deal. City living, you know? But it was so loud that it made me wonder whether there’s even insulation behind the drywall. Our contractor is going to look into it.

I guess maybe I should try to find the old C/NC on getting tf out of the United States now that it's clearly tipped into being a White Christian Nationalist republic.
As I mentioned earlier, I was in CDMX last weekend working for a band and had an incredible time. Would definitely move there.
I was in Ireland last March. Would definitely move there.
I was in Spain a few times over the past few years. Would also move there.
The thing of it is that my wife has always said to me "I don't want to feel like I'm running away from something, I want to feel like I'm running TO SOMETHING BETTER."
and currently, I'm motioning vaguely at everything, saying "Babe, we work constantly just to keep from going under. There's no pension system worth mentioning in this country and if the current President crashes the bond market, all of our retirement is tied up in the Wall Street Casino. Let's at least get somewhere where either 1. The mangoes are incredible, or 2. we don't have to roast through Georgia summers."
I told Lalo the stage manager in CDMX "If you hear of anyone looking for a drummer, I'll fly down here to audition."
My brother-in-law is looking at places in Australia right now. They have an adult trans kid who lives at home, still. They're looking to get out.
What I'm saying is, y'know, if you know of anyone who needs a drummer (me) or a tenured theatre professor (sweet wife), holler at your boy. I currently speak A2 level Spanish, A1 French, enough German to get arrested.
