The Cramps at Napa State Mental Hospital

It's only one song, but you get the point.

wtf is the story behind this?

The Cramps did a full set (in about 1983) for the inmates of the Napa State
Mental Health Facility. The set was taped with a hand-held for vid. Not sure
how the sound was recorded, but I've heard a few crisp recordings maybe
20 years ago. The video is a classic. In a few instances I'm seriously concerned
for Lux. Lux is doing his whole Jerry Lee thing and he gets the crowd stirred
into a frenzy. A few times Lux has to fight for the mic because a 300 lb woman
keeps stealing it and screaming into it. I could go on and on..

I believe the surge in 'Jam-Art' was what The Cramps were responding to,
essentially proving that they are pranksters also.

And to top it off, this set is during their prime, and it's tight as fuck.

The tags for this are "Rockabilly" "Mental" and "Health." Ha ha.

I've never really listened to the guy, but this clip of Rory Gallagher doing Bad Penny is damn good.

I don't know if it's as amusing as it is genius, but here's something from Tom Waits. It defies YouTube's inherent sync problems. I wonder if it was planned for that. Again, genius and I will stoop low enough to steal the idea....

I should mention that that show took place at 1:30 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon (after our "real" last show) at our favorite bar that does not usually feature live music. We were all really hungover, and Brian's cape is fucking gay.

I was too hungover from the night before to even make it. I should not of had that Sparks after I'd already thrown up on the street.
