Is the Super Six more or less of a pain in the ass than the Quad Reverb?
EDIT: Gonna give it to the Super Six here.

I mean a Twin is not known by to be a light combo amp either.jirbling rake wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 11:22 am Does it change the situation if it was never going to a gig? Because I'm getting talked into it, and my Fender Twin is getting a little pissed off about this [Super Six - Man looking at Super Six with sleazy look - Fender Twin looking at man with shocked face] meme situation.
I owned two VT-22s over the years and are thankful they had casters. The really cruel thing about a V4 is you have to pick it up, and the single handle on top is uniquely torturous. I hold these in particular contempt because I pulled something in my wrist a couple years ago moving a V4 TO BE SOLD, and it hurt for months after.Garth wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 9:16 amThe combo version is even worse, the VT-22.
And if they came w/ the upgraded cast-frame Altecs? Even worse still.
My former V4 was the first amp to injure me. I was moving apartments and I was just carrying the fucker to the van and for whatever reason this time, I just twisted a little wrong and my back just went the fuck out. I was down a couple days. Thankfully the V4 was the last thing out of the room. I have a YBA3 which I think is heavier, but is easier to carry thanks to handles.twelvepoint wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 12:12 pmI owned two VT-22s over the years and are thankful they had casters. I'm in my 50s (Early 50s!) and this will happen just doing something stupid like putting socks on.Owen wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 12:17 pm for whatever reason this time, I just twisted a little wrong and my back just went the fuck out. I was down a couple days.
I played a friends old V4-B 25+ years ago, and that mfer was heavy as fuck, and all on one side. When I would pick the thing up it would nose dive from the weight in one direction, and yes, it's a back buster as also noted.Nate Dort wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 12:25 pm My YBA-3A feels significantly lighter than my SVT-II, though they're only about 10 lbs different. I think it's the weight distribution and the handle placement. The Traynor feels more balanced.
My first "real" amp was a Quad. It was ok, didn't sound quite as good as the twin I had. My room mate had a super 6 and it sounded like total crap, and was absurd to move. On its side, it makes an ok stand/amp for a Yamaha YC30 organ, which is how I used it.tallchris wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 11:26 am Is the Super Six more or less of a pain in the ass than the Quad Reverb?
