I will tell you that GOD HAND is one of the best videogames I have ever played. Seriously, God Hand.
If you're playing Metal Gear Solid 2, I'll assume you're at least somewhat interested in stealth games. If so, Siren and Manhunt are two great ones.
Since you're playing Shadow of the Colossus, I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest Ico by the same team. It is worth your while.
If you end up liking God of War, I'd recommend Rygar. It's similar, if not better.
Silent Hill 2 and 3 are both excellent, unsettling games. I think--seven years after its initial release--Silent Hill 2 is still the high-water mark for horror games and remains one of my all-time favorite games. Silent Hill 4 and Origins are quite good as well.
If you like horror games, there are a bunch of other good ones on the PS2: Fatal Frame series, Rule of Rose, Clock Tower 3 (and part one for the original PlayStation), Echo Night Beyond, and Haunting Ground in particular.
Indigo Prophecy is an excellent, unique game, although it was censored a bit for its U.S. release.
Being an oldster, I especially like a lot of the compilations of old arcade games: Taito Legends 1 and 2, Capcom Classics Collection 1 and 2, the Namco Museum games, SNK Arcade Classics, there's also a great compilation of Atari arcade and 2600 games. Atari Anthology, maybe. Most of there are very inexpensive.
If you like fighting games, the Street Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha collections are great, and SNK has released a bunch of anthologies of their fighting games, all of which are worth picking up. The Guilty Gear series is maybe the best 2-D fighting series going at the moment.
Good 3-D fighting games: Tekken 4, 5, and Tag Tournament; Soulcalibur II and III; King of Fighters Maximum Impact and King of Fighters 12.
Contra: Shattered Soldier is great and infuriatingly difficult. It is probably worth buying if you liked the Contra games as a kid. Same goes for the Metal Slug Anthology.
Rez is a spectacular shooting game, and Lumines, by the same team, is a very addictive puzzle game.
I also got really addicted to Chulip, in which you play as a kid who has to kiss everyone in his town.
