In the winter I play the MMO Eve. The game is insanely complex and due to the insane graphics it can be a little laggy. On the downside the missions get monotonous.

Can any fellow PRFers recommend some other "must have" PS2 games? Yes, I have God of War and Katamari, but I haven't popped them in yet since I'm still working on Shadow.

I had an absolute blast playing the Incredible Hulk game (subtitled "Ultimate Destruction" or something like that). I noticed that they copped one of the special moves for the latest Hulk movie.

It's non-stop demolishing everything in your path, but it's not just mindless button-pushing. Lots of combos to remember and knowing when to use which is essential at the higher levels. Big environments and unabashed delight in breaking shit.

oh shit! that reminds me, get the spiderman 2 game! a very awesome game...

I will tell you that GOD HAND is one of the best videogames I have ever played. Seriously, God Hand.

If you're playing Metal Gear Solid 2, I'll assume you're at least somewhat interested in stealth games. If so, Siren and Manhunt are two great ones.

Since you're playing Shadow of the Colossus, I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest Ico by the same team. It is worth your while.

If you end up liking God of War, I'd recommend Rygar. It's similar, if not better.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 are both excellent, unsettling games. I think--seven years after its initial release--Silent Hill 2 is still the high-water mark for horror games and remains one of my all-time favorite games. Silent Hill 4 and Origins are quite good as well.

If you like horror games, there are a bunch of other good ones on the PS2: Fatal Frame series, Rule of Rose, Clock Tower 3 (and part one for the original PlayStation), Echo Night Beyond, and Haunting Ground in particular.

Indigo Prophecy is an excellent, unique game, although it was censored a bit for its U.S. release.

Being an oldster, I especially like a lot of the compilations of old arcade games: Taito Legends 1 and 2, Capcom Classics Collection 1 and 2, the Namco Museum games, SNK Arcade Classics, there's also a great compilation of Atari arcade and 2600 games. Atari Anthology, maybe. Most of there are very inexpensive.

If you like fighting games, the Street Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha collections are great, and SNK has released a bunch of anthologies of their fighting games, all of which are worth picking up. The Guilty Gear series is maybe the best 2-D fighting series going at the moment.

Good 3-D fighting games: Tekken 4, 5, and Tag Tournament; Soulcalibur II and III; King of Fighters Maximum Impact and King of Fighters 12.

Contra: Shattered Soldier is great and infuriatingly difficult. It is probably worth buying if you liked the Contra games as a kid. Same goes for the Metal Slug Anthology.

Rez is a spectacular shooting game, and Lumines, by the same team, is a very addictive puzzle game.

I also got really addicted to Chulip, in which you play as a kid who has to kiss everyone in his town.

Wow! What a post! Thanks.

Do I need to play Silent Hill before Silent Hill 2?

I will second this. Ico is amazing. Too short, but amazing.

You do not 'need' to play Silent Hill to play Silent Hill 2, but parts of the latter will make more sense if you do.

I am using a Genesis emulator to play Streets of Rage.

This is code for: My internal age is ten years old, and I am this close to being the biggest fucking loser on the planet.

I've been whittling away at GTA: San Andreas for the past few weeks, and just re-started Psychonauts for the second time.

I'm wondering when the PC edition of Liberty City Stories is going to be released.
