There are bands with both those names, Red Snapper is kind of a ninja tune type acid jazz band and I saw a band called Grape Ape at the Fireside a long time ago, just some punk band.
That girl, by the way was the one I later discovered had 6 toes on one of her feet.

I'd say Swervedriver is the quintessential shoegaze band, I'd say anyone interested in that whole scene dosen't really need to dig any further than Swervedriver they are pretty much as good as it gets

Hey! Back to Shellac for one second. My friend just sent me this url to a recording of one of the shows from that weekend. It's only about 4 1/2 minutes sadly, but I think you'll agree that the sound quality is pretty much unrivalled.
