We even have a Japanese-inspired vinyl listening lounge now, that can be fun depending on who's DJ-ing (tmidgett/eephus did a good set recently).
Dang, I'd definitely make a trip up to Milwaukee to see that.. whereabouts?
It's called Wiggle Room. That reminds me: I need to encourage them to post the DJ schedules outside of Zuckergram.
Erf, yeah, I can see they have posted on IG, though I don't have an IG account. Is it archaic to have one's own website these days?!

Anyway, if you happen to see someone of potential interest that will be doing a set there, I'd love to join and meet up with you and/or others around the region. It's marginally easier for me to get up to Milwaukee than Chicago by car but it does mean I need to be less stupid regarding beer consumption.

Yeah, starting to think that laying around the beach with a pen and notebook might not be a bad way to go for a few days. Maybe get up and whip a clouser fly around, then go back to ruminating.

Owen, looking forward to your update!

Yes, life is now behind a paywall....or at least egregious advertising. Even when they exist, most websites are just redirects to social media sites with zero actual content.

Kyushu and southwest Honshu in April and May.

Been to Japan several times before, but the only places in that area I've spent time in (oddly enough) are Matsue and Izumo (on the San-in coast).

Flying into Fukuoka, then taking a loop around some coastal islands (Hirado, Goto), Nagasaki, and the mountains around Aso and its various onsen towns. Eventually working our way up to Matsue via the San-in coast, then flying out of Osaka (where, amazingly, I've never been). Thinking about Tsuwano and the Oki Islands, as well.

Intending to do all of this via public transport, no car. Hiking, good food, and a few temples/shrines/Buddhas are very much on the agenda.

Anyone?

Just got back from my 5 days of doing nothing in particular in Cancun.

If you are on the main hotel strip as we were, there is a little unassuming place called Fish Fritanga, which is a regular restaurant (you go down towards the lagoon) and taco stand (street level). Both are excellent, but I ate at that taco stand 3 times in 4 days for lunch. Fish, shrimp, and pastor tacos all excellent, and at a good price. $2 or 2.50 usd per taco.

I also think it is worth doing a trip over to Isla Mujeres. If you decide to do that and want to sea fish (or a boat tour/snorkling), check out Captain Pulpo, a local fisherman who is a great guy who will take you out to fish, serve you chips, salsa, beer while you fish. Cook your catch, stop off at little spots to swim if you want. Just a real good relaxing time with a dude who has good energy and loves what he does. capitanpulpooficial@gmail.com +52 998 156 4252

I did notice a few piers/bridges that locals were fishing at when you drive in, didnt partake myself, but depending where you are there should be a walkable option.
