Noice?
I mean, I wasn’t offended.

I have heard way too many people say "think outside the box" lately.

Today I had a day that I was able to take off spontaneously between work phases and deadlines here and my partner was kind enough to cover for me at home, so I rode a Flixbus 3 hours and 15 minutes to Hamburg to go see this incredible exhibition before it ends next week:

RENDEZVOUS OF DREAMS: Surrealism and German Romanticism

It was rad.

Spent six hours there taking everything in while listening to surreal, abstract electronic music on headphones. Then I rode a Flixbus back home for 3 hours and 15 minutes. On both legs of the trip I recorded surreal, abstract electronic music for hours with my mobile kit (1010music Blackbox sampler with a simple pad controller powered by power bar recorded directly into an Olympus field recorder).

A beautiful day.

I was the Mekons show at Gold Diggers, sitting at the bar having some Lambrusco when the woman next to me asks if I was OK (I have no idea why, maybe I looked bored). She introduced herself as Barbara. I thought to myself I have seen her before, but couldn't place her. Then it hit me. "Can I ask you something? Is your last name Manning?" It was Barbara manning of 28th Day (and SF Seals, but I was never fan). That was interesting. I love 28th Day, they were my second concert, back in 1985, at Fresno State University; I won tickets by calling into its radio station.

That’s awesome. I would’ve fanned out if that happened to me. There was a time in my life when I listened to Lately I Keep Scissors constantly.

Now that's thinking outside the box

I put in an 18ga IV standing up in the back of the ambulance on bad curving roads today for the first time. She had a pretty good vein, but considering she asked “Is the needle in yet?” after I’d already attached the flush I felt alright about how it went.

I did it. I contacted a few people beforehand I still talk to and gave them my email and phone #.
(FWIW, I'm still on Instagram. I like pictures.)
