I’m edgy as fuck today. The public is on my nerves. Everyone seems a little needier than usual. The horizon is hazy with ragweed pollen, so that may explain it.

Lots of monarch butterflies passing through, heading to Mexico. They seem full of purpose, not stopping to dillydally. Cooler weather is afoot.

This morning I was still riding high on my second cup of coffee and in that Monday morning tonal shift that comes with reacclamating to work. I was really feeling math and said, "So there you have it. Use your model or numberline to check but we're ready to subtract and the difference is..... thirteen fifths, or two and three fifths if ya nasty." The 4th graders looked at each other wide eyed, grinning like they just enjoyed something they weren't supposed to hear.

That's a nice shot.

Metra? Not Metro?

Metra is the (mostly) suburban commuter rail around the Chicago area. Double decker trains, pretty nice. I used to take the electric line to Hyde Park frequently.

FM penningtron is correct, as usual.

Metra is a brand name..

And I try to take it anytime I’m headed into the city, if I can. Company’s downtown office is a 10 minute walk from Union Station. It’s a no-brainer for me.

My mentor at work died today. Brain tumor. Early 70's.

Have yet to meet someone who cared more about students, including probably myself. Taught me a lot about my craft.

Cannot replace him.

Not to interrupt anyone else's flow/concerns here, but I just polished off another chapter, am on my second Duvel, and don't GIVE A FUCK. But I will probably take another shower before hitting the hay and then go back to lurk mode/casual indifference to social media.

See you . . . around Black Friday?? Something like that.
