even the new one with Jello Biafra isn't so bad.

Nearly a flawless track record considering how long and diverse it is. I read somewhere that Steve said he wouldn't have picked them for ATP, but I can't understand why, they are just as innovative now as they were in the early 90's when a lot of people say they reached their peak. Anything by them is essential.

I recently got a Melvins 7", and I don't care for it at all.

Melvins are't going to be immediately accessible on anything they do, but give them a chance. I can't think of many bands in the last decade who have put out some of the audacious material the Melvins have. I was listening to the album Prick a little while ago, and I have to say they had guts. They still blow away all of the other Seattle/Washington area bands with the exception of Tad.

There's bad "heavy" and the good "heavy". Melvins are of the good "heavy", yah...

I've seen a little slagging of the Biafra/Melvins album. I don't get it. I think it's great.

That bassline in "Islamic Bomb!" So great!

To be perfectly honest, my conversion to the Melvins has been pretty recent. Regardless of my opinion of them, they've always a band that I've never been able to put my finger on exactly why I like/dislike them.

Funny thing...

I was watching the White Sox vs Twins game a couple weeks ago, and wouldn't you know, King Buzzo was watching the game with some of his friends in the stands... Not only did he make it on TV, he was circled by Bert Blyleven and announced as the Fan Of The Game! They didn't know who he was! I hope someone has told Buzzo about this.

I've listened to some Melvins and enjoy most of what I've heard. But they have oh-so-many records! And their stuff on that Patton label is fairly expensive! So let's narrow it down: the three best Melvins records. Three!

Tell me!
