I've only heard The Damned, but that record has two amazing longer songs. Their sound is like nothing I've ever heard before! The closest comparison I can make is, say, early Black Dice or maybe Throbbing Gristle. But the Dead C really have a unique style.

Any details on whether or not the guitar feedback is totally improvised or if it's planned-out beforehand? I've always been quite curious about this. Does the guitarist have a method for controlling how the feedback sounds, or is it all just off-the-cuff experimentation?

Actually, I would go as far as to say that this is the best collection of Dead C material available. Anyone looking to get into the band should definitely start here. Lots of superior alternate versions, too.
