Tim Furnish of Crain is doing Parlour now. Will Chatham posts on this board. You can download some stuff that never made it to vinyl (the early stuff with Drew from Matmos singing) from his website geekamongus.

Members of HUM formed National Skyline.

Camera Obscura (San Diego), that's a good one. I have a 7-inch called To Change the Shape of an Envelope or something like that. They were good.

Freeheat! Ha! I liked them, too. I like pretty much anything Jim Reid touches.

I'm sure Please Forever is up to something, but they have seemed pretty silent for the last two years.

Where in Obscura is Camera San Diego?

I just had to write it.

Anyway, Urban Dance Squad came to mind pretty much immediately. Also, Big Drill Car.

Oh, and my guess is that EVERYONE here remembers Hum. Just felt the need to complete a very poor conversation.

Speaking of disappearing. When Natl. Skyline's first EP finally appeared, they put on one of the great shows that I have seen at Schuba's. Totally incredible.

They had also played as a full 4-piece some 1.5 years earlier at a one-off at the Bottle, which was one of my top 10 all time best live music experiences.

Sadly, that music was never released.

Hey! More Champaign-related MIAs:

LoveCup
The Mezzanines
Honcho Overload
Castor

and non-U-of-I related (the biggest one in my book):

Chavez

Is this the Crain of Sunderland?

Actually, it's probably not. But there was a fine, fine band from Sunderland who may have been called Crane rather than Crain. They played with Fugazi over here a few times. They were very good indeed.

2/4ths of U.S. Maple.

Yet, 4/2ths as good.

Four halves? Two wholes? Twice as good? Please, help!
