I have heard about 10 seconds of this band's music in that Verizon commercial.
Would it be wrong for me to say this band is wretched CRAP based solely on this small sampling of their music?

Fucking retarded.

That band is terrible. One of my "hardcore" friends told me that Wes Eisold of Some Girls/American Nightmare/Give Up the Ghost co-wrote 3 songs on the record...as if the credibility (or lack thereof) of one guy could change my opinion of a horrible group.

Even worse than the actual music and fashion sense of afformentioned band, that chick Crystal told me she was reading and interview with their singer and he said he didn't even know that it was a Simpsons reference. So either they don't like the Simpsons, or they are denying the Simpsons, Judas style.

This was a band that my friends who had bands in high school would play with. They loved the Fall Out Boy. Loved it. They were actually chummy with the most annoying band of the last 5 years or so.

I think it mighta been different at first from what it is now...but I hated all their bands and all the bands they liked anyway...of course I was also listening to (mostly) crap myself at the time...


Anyway. I was thinking about teenager "fake punk" today ("faux punk" from here on out). I was on da MySpace...a band I halfway respected...reviewed and interviewed in the Onion...totally sold out completely and turned into a faux punker, Fall Out-esque band. See, I found their new and "improved" profile. These guys would almost certainly sign to a major label. I had a class with one of the members...I just wanted to pull him aside after class, shake him violently, and tell him "don't sign to a major, DON'T SIGN TO A MAJOR, DON'T SIGN TO A MAJOR!!!"

The amazing thing about the sell out realization...was that after being mortified by these songs, my stomach sank when I heard them namecheck "Steve Albini" as if he were an "Alex P. Keaton" sort of figure in some kind of 1999 KISS FM/LFO song. I'd put up the link...but I think it would be a bad idea to give it any attention. Maybe it's what they want. Bad bad stuff.

I had a good day overall though...if you were wonderin'...but I wanted to like these guys. The Dark Side is seductive...

I really think their should be a genre called suburban rock, and fall out boy is at the pinnacle of it. these fucking bands even name their bands after real suburbs! how lame can one get? hawthorne heights for example, I even know these guys in what they call themselves verona grove, most definitely a suburb. drive thru records, and victory records sign alot of these shitty types.

oh, here's those guys I know, that named their band after a suburb. I went to school, and graduated with these guys. I played hockey with one of them for a couple years too. he was definitely better at hockey than making music.

Either way that's pretty stupid. The latter possibility is much more likely, and much more stupid. Also, it's Peter style.

the BEST thing about MEST was that they formed out of some type of nazi skinhead punk band...i forget the name, but boy oh boy...

then of course, with Showoff, there was a wonderful controversy the one time they played the fireside and reacted to a female heckler by saying "somebody should rape that girl"

maybe thats why they were both one hit wonders...

oh. and my god, fall out boy is so fucking awful and they're so fucking popular...its amazing.
