"Overwritten": the adjective that other writers love to use when they can't understand the words that you use or the ideas that you convey.
Well, one of the prereq's for understanding prose is being able to wade through enough of it so that understanding is at least possible. When writing is impenetrable--or off-putting--the "ideas" are moot. No, when I use a word, I tend to do so literally; in this case, "overwrite" means "to write in a forced or labored style; to use a literary style that is too pompous, too flowery, or too academic . . . to write an excessive amount; to write too much; as he overwrote himself."
