hi rachael. ease your way into fish eating. i used to be like you, but then i slowly started eating more of. when it's fried it really can lure you in. then once you get the taste of it, you can start eating it in a more healthy matter. not that you're interested in this, but if you are, fish can be a healthy addition to one's diet.

Ditto on this for me, and every now and then I love a fresh oyster or two. I grew up fishing and with a fish-cooking ma who was always trying to stuff fish in my maw and I was all like "frick". Then I lived in Portland and had to go to a lot of fund-raisers and crap and I think it's the law to serve room temperature salmon. Which is disgusting.

The only fish I liked was Pollyanna, my red cap Oranda. She was an Ayn Rand-loving Republican but I loved her. Now my ex has her and I miss her fatness.

-Pescado Veracruzana (whole fish cooked in a tomato/onion/green olive deliciousness)

-Ceviche con aguacate (Ground-up fish that is 'cooked' in lime juice, topped with avocado, and then spread over crackers, mixed with salad, etc.)

-Caldo de Siete Mares ("7 Seas Soup": a massive stew consisting of shellfish, squid, fish, etc.)

Angus,

If you could point me in the direction of anyplace to get this food in the bay area, especially the Seven Seas Soup, you would make my wife very happy.

The one thing I miss about living at 47th and International, other than my awesome apartment with built in practice space and my recording studio, was all the cheap and delicious food very nearby. I could spend $10 at the mexican grocery and have food for 3 days. One giant meal for lunch and one different giant meal for dinner, and live on the leftovers for two more days.

I'm beginning to get hungry.
