Thought I read somewhere that he really gained weight for the role. Can't remember where I read that.
I saw both seasons in their entirety before seeing the miniseries. A friend had neglected to put it on the hard-drive that he lent me. You have no idea how brilliant I thought this show was. I mean, I still love the show but I imagined that:
The series started suddenly with people in space and chaos reigned. What?!? What's with the Cylons attacking so regularly? Why are they on the run? Who is that guy?
I didn't know the truth about Boomer for most of the first series.
It was really incredible thinking that these writers had the nerve to throw the audience in the middle of chaos and figured that we'd be smart enough to pick up the pieces. At this point in the series the chemistry between the characters was amazing. Bam. They WERE those characters. No build-up necessary.
It was so odd to find out about the miniseries and finally watch it. The characters seemed so stiff since the actors weren't settled in their roles yet. Everything was spelled out. Clearly. Like normal. It was still a great series but I really enjoying having to figure everything out. Great, great fun. I'm glad I saw it that way first.
