About embarrassing records:

Nothing embarrasses me in the sense that the disc is so out of place as to reflect poorly on my taste or whatever. I don't bother with assumptions about objective standards.

But...plenty of my discs contain great music or songs that are couched in (or contain) really insipid or cliche'd styles. I guess a good example would be Opeth's Deliverance, which has the distinction of sounding alternately like Queensryche, The Cookie Monster, and better-than-Helmet-at-their-best all in the same song.

I can't play this record for people without feeling the urge to disclaim it. Even though it totally slays (when it isn't funny).

i really dont enjoy dirty by sonic youth.. but people say give that time so i will and wont consider it horrible or anything.... as far as bad goes i'm gonna have to say an old sugar ray album, but yeah those years are gone i swear

Well.....when I started to play bass, I used to buy solo albums from bass players such as Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clark, etc.....and only god knows why I bought that one day.....
Although, I can't throw it away, that cover is just hideous and the title is beyond everything.

The Ugly One With the Jewels is a brilliant album. Good stories, well told, really atmospheric... what's the problem?

I was going to make my entry the sountrack to Cabaret, but I'm not embarrassed, it's bloody brilliant.
