Smoove: Park Lead Combo, Marshall Super Lead MK II

Chiming: Carlsbro TC models. Much cheaper than Orange with similar effect.

I've played through and owned a few Traynors. I'm guessing that if some certain people didn't champion them that they'd still be in the Cheap Amp sector at Music-Go-Round. Last one I bought was a Guitar Mate, all-original and excellent for $99.

I don't think they sound that great.

Sounds glorious at unhealthy volume.

Sounds slightly less glorious at sane volume.

Master volume knobs are for children.

I too have this amp and like it, although the EQ seems worthless. Then again Im not so sure my amp is working exactly as it should.

Funny you should say that...I just came back from practice.

Tonight, the Mig decided that it didn't feel like operating at the high levels of gain I could previously count on. It was one of those situations where you're sure that there is some gain loss beforehand in the chain, but nope, it's doing the same thing staight in, bypassing the FX.

Time to get Svetlana looked at. Unless it's the tele. It isn't the tele. I'm not so sure my amp is working exactly as it should.

About your EQ being worthless: on my 50, I have often chuckled at how limited the EQ is in "dialing in" anything. The "presence" knob is particularly funny: turn it up for mysterious overtones in the mids, but nothing resembling "presence". The band knobs all seem to be bandpass filtering, subtly, and not really doing much of anything.

I suppose there may be some kind of voodoo potential for moving the High EQ around against a radically hi-cut tone knob pos. on the guitar, but I never found anythng outsiude of roughly 12 o'clock all the way down that you could call an "improvement."

yeah, i find that unless i have the bass knob all the way down, that amp is way too boomy. It's more like a "boomy on/off" switch. Also, when I play at the "crunch" setting, which is way too fucking loud for unprotected ears, it sometimes makes a sound like it's clipping. I think that some of the pots might be bad and when it's so loud it's actually rattling the pots and making crackling noises, which at that volume sound like clipping.

MTAR,

HUH?

What do you mean by "clipping"? Distortion (like we all want on our guitars) *IS* clipping. Unless you have a perfectly pristine super-clean signal, it's being clipped. The "Marshall sound" is the sound of massive clipping.

What are you really referring to when you say "clipping"?
