I really wanted to go see Marlena Shaw last weekend. That's a voice. Sadly none of my mates were into ponying up the fourteen quid necessary. To be honest I balked too, but I'm hoping there will be a next time. (Instead I went to a friends house and we watched 'Queen's Greatest Flix'. It was not a bad evening.)

Smokie Robinson. Everything points to Smokie Robinson. (and aside from his beautiful voice, he deserves high, high credit for recording a song as great as 'Being With You' in the nineteen eighties.)

Jeff Buckley.. Surprised he wasn't mentioned.

I'll mention this. Some doude made a blanket statement that all bnds are derivitive of top three classic rock bands in yr area. Mr Buckley along with Jim Croce were two exceptions. there are more

I'll admit he ain't great these days, but I was listening to earlier stuff like Vs. and it's damn powerful stuff. I'm not sure if he technically has the best voice, but I believe passion and knowing how to work your voice according to the song counts for something.

i'm sure i'm not the only one who does eddie vedder impressions. if anyone can impersonate that self obssessed sweat bucket, he can't be that good. and he gave birth to ronan keating anyway so that makes him double useless. i also think the 'passion' comes from being drunk.

I don't think the impersonation point really counts. Anyway, each to their own I guess.

i know i just think him and pearl jam was one of the most overrated bands ever in history. and that his voice is totally one dimensional.
