You guessed it. I much disagree. "Mote" is good, but the rest of it sucks. ... Anyway, Goo sucks, but it is much better than the truly horrendous "Dirty." What a pile of crap.

Whether or not Dirty is crap, I would also give an exception to Lee's "Wish Fulfillment". I would also add its cousin, the "Genetic" B-side, since they included it on the reissue.

Yeah. Lee's songs are usually their best.
wow I thought choppy and I are the only people who thought that...

Whats the difference? Would you have heard these rekkids even if they were on an Indie Label? My wife points out that one of the reasons these albums were great was the fact that they had major label support, like engineers, and good studios, etc. Your post makes doesn't make any sense.

Bands producing quality work on major labels?

There is a non-trivial distinction between bands whose only recording option was a major label (before 1980 or thereabouts) and those who came later and had a fully-functioning independent music community as an option.

I am comfortable saying that no* rock music of merit was made outside of that community, but instead made for major labels.

*assume a minute but possibly non-zero value of no.
