I was thoroughly entertained. Costco, The President, talking like a fag, so good. There are weak moments (that briefing, and the end which i can't remember). We did a similar thing, when the movie was over, comedy central was on and we caught a bit of stand-up. The dialog was pretty much the same there.

BUMP. Can't believe this thread is this short. This is a funny/scary(because it's true) look into the future of this country. The powers that be tried to bury this movie.

Idiocracy is being treated like a red-headed step-child. Fox is intentionally and inexplicably trying to kill it. Idiocracy arrives without a movie trailer or even an official poster. 20th Century Fox hasn't bothered to let anyone review it, and in fact until about a week ago when some executive decided to change his mind, the movie wasn't going to be released at all. Usually when a movie gets this kind of treatment it's because it's a piece of crap, but Idiocracy is one of the best movies of the year.

Im sure more of you have seen it by now. If not, I highly recommend it.

Here is a clip of the intro to give you an idea of the premise:

NC no W/F.

Call me crazy, but I thought Idiocracy had a heavily satirized Orwellian sensibility. I can totally see why this movie was buried from the masses, as the major theater chains are pretty much run by their advertisers at this point. Anyone who works in the upper echelons of corporate marketing should be horrified by Idiocracy, as it might even make the dullest people understand what is going on.

This movie had a couple good moments, but it's not a remotely intelligent flick. It's completely hamfisted and predictable. Zero subtly, a series of sight gags strung together, etc.

And the retarded social Darwinist crap at the beginning: poor people are dumb and inbred, hence poor; wealthier people are intelligent and thoughtful, hence fewer in number and richer. Enlightening stuff. Throw in a gonzo black president as the inevitable outcome of a devolved America, and it's easy to forget, that at times, this is marginally better than Dumb and Dumber.

Not to belabor the point, but it's a bit ironic that such a stupid, base movie should be celebrated as incisive satire.

Forgettable crap.
