rashiedgarrison wrote:"Rush Hour" - Jane Wieldin
- and when those cars start hitting each other, there's
'Crash' by The Primitives.

'Manner de Westens', complete with rap about 'Western stuff' in the middle - "you got rocket power, got Kennedy, got James Bond got Muhammed Ali". THE ROCK IS ON! ROCK ON NEO-ROCKERS, ROCK ON!
Lush -
'Single Girl'.
Cor, after seven hours in a council planning meeting this afternoon I was in a right old grump; not no more. Salut, the internet's Premier Pop Forum!

I'd like to also contribute the following:
The Flaming Lips - Satellite of You
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. You can't go wrong with x-amount of key changes to end a song.
Shellac - The Billiard Player Song
I hears 'em likes I hears 'em, and this is a damn fine pop song.

Neneh Cherry, "Buffalo Stance"
Rihanna, "S.O.S." and "Pon De Replay"
Amerie, "1 Thing"
OMG all of these are on constant replay in my house.
"S.O.S.", sure, it relies on that "Tainted Love" sample, but hell, I can't stop singing it.

Ooof! You nearly smuggled that one by me. I often try to convince people that it is
better than 'Whip It' by Devo.
(I can be irritating).
Also - 'Whip It' by Devo.
I'd like to vote
again for
'Break Out' by Swing Out Sister. Closer viewing of the video has revealed perhaps the highest concentration of fun in any pop video of the eighties. Best bit is where the one fella is in a swing drinking a mug of tea and reading a magazine, while the other two hula-hoop around him - then the girl goes and makes some strangers dance in the park. This is
after they've been messing around in a carpet warehouse!

Cathy Dennis wrote this song. She also wrote
'Toxic' for Britney Spears, which even I thought was a pretty amazing song at the time. However, Spears turned down another Dennis composition called
'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex', which was instead recorded by Rachel Stevens. For some reason that song really sticks in my head. If Britney had recorded it, they would have spent a lot more money on it and it could have been a really incredible pop song.
