Hyde Park loitering stuff: Hyde Park Records at 53rd and Dorchester-ish; Dr. Wax in the mall at 53rd and Harper; used bookstores west of 57th and Harper; Seminary Co-op bookstore (rad but expensive) at 57th and University. Of these, only the Seminary Co-op is near Cobb.

All of the old buildings near Cobb are beautiful.

Watch out for hoodlums.

EDIT: Check bookstore hours before making plans -- they close early if I remember correctly.

Faiz, you'd be within blocks of the Seminary Co-Op bookstore (5757 S University), which is one of the best in the country for social science books. If bumble is with you, secure her Visa. Closes at 6, though. If you guys wanna bike the lake path to go, let me know. I'm planning on doing so. We could carry hockey sticks/wear hockey masks.

Burun, two girls BEAT YOU UP? wtf.

I can see why doing this show at this venue would appeal to LB, but it's kind of irresponsible. They aren't in the position as a band anymore to come to Chicago and have this be their only show. People who want to see them won't get to.

Seeing LB in 2001 was insane enough. This show looks to be a total nightmare.

Maybe I should host a party in my office in the Psych department. Also, the Renaissance Society on the fourth (?) floor of Cobb has good art to look at... if it's open. And you can always go to Doc films if you don't get into the show.

WHPK is ok. I used to like the Old-Timey program they had, and I've heard some decent stuff onthe morning shows time and again. Lately, though, it seems every time I tune in after work, I get bad world music or something else I don't care about. Also, you can't really pick it up much further north than Pilsen.

Playing live on pure hype is kind of fun, at least for the t-shirts.

The Sem Co-op is amazing. Every time I have to buy textbooks I try to get in and out as fast as possible, or else I'll start READING and they'll find my dessicated corpse in there a week later.

these kids are idiots. 200 people????

why didn't they do it in one of those ballrooms? so stupid. They could have gotten five hundred people, and charged two bucks at the door. So dumb.
Seriously - why not Ida Noyes? They had Animal Collective play there a couple years ago, it was excellent. Plenty room for Lightning Bolting.
