it's been months since i posted about farting. a good friend of mine actually started this thread in order to "call me out", because he knew i couldn't resist. i believe it may have been my first post here, actually.

regardless, FARTING WILL ALWAYS BE FUNNY.

In the middle school i went to, 'safety' was what you said before you farted, and then you were somehow given immunity against any flatulence driven backlash others might feel against you.

Pretty much every day in gym class, as we were changing in the locker room, the same guy would let out the most disgusting, wall-staining farts. He always said 'safety' before them and then laughed at the rest of us.

Then at the end of 9th grade we took a field trip to Six Flags and at the end of the bus ride home the bus was filled with a horrible stench. Of course we all looked at the guy that always farted, but he said 'no it actually wasnt me'. It turns out the cause of the smell was from another guy, who shat himself after consuming only milkshakes the entire day. That guy actually had the courage to continue his education at that same high school, so all the more credit to him.

When Federation X recorded there, Steve did this a couple times, and I guess it confused those guys.

I wonder if Steve has used the "Ass Mic" since that session.

What the hell is the "ass mic"? I searched the forum but that is just too broad of a term (there are a lot of posts that use both "ass" and "mic" on this forum)

joshsolberg wrote:You know how your brain figures out that somebody farted (other than the noise)? Your nose registers an odor. And you know how your nose experiences that odor? As the gas that makes the sound passes through the farter's nether regions, it travels at high pressure past poo. As it does, it whisks microscopic poo particles out of the farter's nethers, and spreads their stinky badness into the air. The sensation of "smelling a fart" is actually the process of smell receptors, which are very closely linked to your taste buds, encountering the poo particulates. Thus, when you smell a fart, you are, essentially, eating poop. So yes, farting is most certainly crap...

sorry to be picky but this is utter BALLS.

I don't know who brought this thread back to life, but she makes me laugh here while I do the crap job. I did notice this response to my statement of long ago, and wish to direct the responder, as well as any others who disbelieve my statement, to this website:

http://www.extension.iastate.edu/Pages/communications/EPC/F99/methane.html

Note the statement that biogas is composed of about 60% methane. The other part is poop particles. The process they are describing is one in which biogas (basically, farts), is produced by bacterial digestion of cow shit in an oxygen-free environment, so that the methane can be separated from the poop and used as fuel.

Note also: http://www.meridianeng.com/sewergas.html, in which the statement: "Carbon dioxide and methane have little or no odor characteristics" appears, in a discussion about the implications of sewer gas. Also note the sentence: "Exposure to airborne biological contaminants often requires the generation of mists containing these materials." You know what that means, duncha?

Anyway, methane doesn't smell like poop. Poop smells like poop.

West Memphis, Arkansas unsurprisingly smells like that as well. It's like crossing over the Mississippi river and landing in an open sewer.
