When has that ever applied? Surely not to the Indians, the Blacks, Asians, Hispanics that've been treated like garbage over the last two hundred years.

In case I haven't made myself clear here, to put it mildly, I do not particularly care for the current class-status system/structure, but in so far as it still exists -- and it most certainly does, and will probably continue to for ages -- why the fuck shouldn't there be social mobility within it?
Denying people this doesn't level the playing feild... it just perpetuates the status quo.

Stupid jokes aside, there has always been a ruling class. Through the economy, through Religion, through Government, they've always ruled. Not a family, but a certain established class that still exists.
Here in the states, it's no different. Aristocracy has always been around, even in the Revolutionary times.
