At least one was prefaced with "This is a new song", but there must have been more.

Dixie Dave has "eat weed" knuckle tattoos... on his toes.

Music Hates You and Weedeater are about .500 for shows that we book and then play/cancel together.

world of pee wrote:ok... what's the big fucking deal about weedeater? there are a billion boring stoner/sludge bands with boring 70s blues-metal riffs and expensive amps. what's the big deal???????????????

ok i see guy from buzzove and steve recorded... is that it? there are so many of these bands coming out the woodworks right about now.

For a sludgy, stoner metal band, HOOKS GALORE! Their songs are catchy as fuck and their rhythm section will crush you.

This thread makes me sad Weedeater plays the Khyber tonight and I have to work. The raves tear my heart out and I will be working a sad three hours and I will be not where I want to be.

Why do I have to miss all the good stuff. At least friends are playing tonight and I can put my two cents in on sound.

They opened with the title track and I know there were at least 2 others in there I don't know, which means they were probably off the new one.

I got food poisoning from the fish and chips at some late-night Brooklyn pub we stumbled to after the show. Yesterday was hell.

Khyber/Philly show was great, almost ALL new songs. It's fine though because that album is excellent. "Weed Monkey" is easily one of their heaviest moments. Wish the set could have been longer but they had to get back to drinkin'.

In response to pee - I fail to see what they have to do with the "woodwork", although I get what you mean. You notice this when watching local openers who played in a similar vein. Those bands did a fine enough job, but completely lacked that essential heavy power, you know?

part of this i copied from a post i made at another forum.

there were other bands at that bottle show. i didn't listen to lair of the minotaur much but minsk were awesome as usual. i've seen them at the bottle three times now and they are just incredibly powerfull. they ended with a lot of cool drumming. the drummer kept going while everyone else put their equipment away.

weedeater started with just drums. intentional or not it was cool how it mimicked minsk. 2 different styles of drumming - both pretty good. from the drums they went into "god luck and good speed" and they didn't really stop much until it was over. no encore which i like. play til you're done and then just leave. i saw them drinking milk drinks and then someone tossed some chunks. i could have skipped that part but what do you expect - milk drinks after several hours of beer and whiskey?

dixie dave is pretty impressive - playing bass, screaming and hopping up and down. that side of the stage had an excess of energy. when he cocks his right leg and sort of twitch hops, it just made me smile. there are things in my head the he reminded me of but i can't recall what they are. for some reason he makes me think of ian anderson. that and maybe some type of fucked up southern leprechaun. and that voice.

See? This is what happens when you abandon Burger Joint for the far inferior Chip Shop.

I hope you learned your lesson, young man.

Good call on the Ian Anderson! There's definitely an element of that there.

Now that I've listened to the records, I gotta say that the new one is the best at capturing what I saw on stage.

I can understand why Dixie used to puke on stage, because the way he sings sort of necessitates it. It's volcanic.
