I watched it this morning online and was really, really glad I didn't spend the $9 to go see it in a theater.
I love the older episodes of the show but the past few seasons have really been a let down. This movie was a very watered down version of one of the newer episodes.
Agreed. I saw a rush hour screening for $6. Got about 6 laughs out of it.

Watched it again last night. It kinda made me sad.
I think they spent 3 years on the animation but about 3 weeks on the script. There were so many bits that didn't contain a joke nor further the plot.
I think the audience was supposed to see a cabin covered in snow and recall the episode where Homer and Burns were trapped in a cabin covered in snow and laugh at the association with what used to be a funny show. The American expression "phoned it in" could've been written to describe this script.

And that stupid dome was just like that Burns sun-blotter-outer thing.

Finally saw this yesterday. Overall, not crap, but with a hearty amount of waffles.
As has been said, the first half of the movie or so was solid, but there are just some things that didn't sit well with me within the continuity of the show - things I won't get into, because I don't want to spoil it for anyone - but just some of the language used, and references to things that were supposedly happening for the first time but had already happened in the past.
And, I hadn't thought of it before, but Hessburg made a good point in the last post - why wasn't Burns the movie's antagonist?

Not crap, but waffles must be given.
Overall, I'd say it wasn't as funny as a single episode which is crap, but it was amusing at times, although the jokes seemed to lack the depth of those in the better episodes.

I was skeptical at first. But alas, I went to see it the night of the release. I wasn't expecting a "Homer Goes to College" esque episode, but at the same time, I wasn't expecting to laugh throughout.
I payed my $8... and it was worth it.
Loved it.

Not Crap. It was pretty good, like an old episode, but longer. Not a great old episode, just a good one. Better than a lot of the new stuff I've seen, but I think I've heard some of the old writers might be coming back, so maybe the next season will be good. A friend of mine told me that Kamp Krusty was supposed to be the original Simpsons movie, but for some reason wasn't used. This movie did rehash a lot of stuff that's already been done, but I think the pulled it off well enough to see once.
