chris jury wrote:anyone remember Jay's Upstairs in Missoula? That was a total bitch to load into/out of. Especially the rickety wooden back stairs when they were covered in snow and everyone was drunk. Man, I am glad the ampeg 8x10 never made that trip.
Fun venue!
back load in, no thanks!

I never really minded. A nice build up to the set and a nice cool off after. It's part of the show.
Hell, I don't even really mind doing it for all the bands at work, either.

Actually, I don't mind load in for most bands. Replicator, well, for some reason it's worse than any other band. I think it's the giant drums and all the accessory cases.

This kind of shit will make you hate. A guy in my old band pulled this all the fucking time. I no longer play music with this person.

We played a loft in Detroit that had no elevator and was up 53 stairs.
It sucked, but it wasn't that bad.

arggh! what an horrible image!
there's a legendary guitar player here that, completely drunk and stoned and after a particulary bad gig in a museum on the top of a HILL, decided to throw his twin reverb down the hill.
like, 100 meters bouncing.

oh wait, that's a 90lb amp.
to everyone, if you plan on playing shows, you should keep in mind that you will be moving the gear when you buy the gear.
if you don't want to move a 90lb amp, don't get one for shows. get a lighter one. sound quality at shows is pretty much always compromised. might as well make the setup as simple as possible.

Yes, and 100lbs with the ATA case.
You want to hear a nightmare? My old band had 11 guitars (not including the bass) that we had to haul around everywhere.
