Saw him live with his big band last summer, absolutely fantastic.
Last album and the recent b sides collection have been in constant rotation in my head for a long time now.
Isn't not NOTCRAP

32All this and not one mention of Nocturama?
An awesome performance by a great band.
Really.
Babe, I'm on Fire clocks in around 12 minutes long (or longer?) and it's obvious it's one take.
Great recording of a great performance.

33I've seen them twice since I started this thread.
First time supporting the double album, with the gospel singers.
And then last month as a 3 piece band. Drums, bass and violin. It was a venue usually for classical/opera. I'm quite sure no one has ever shouted motherfucker so many times on that stage before.

More info here. The song on their Myspace page is pretty fucking great.
There are crispy fries waiting to come out of your oven: you just have to make them and put them there.

37Has any other punk rocker more gracefully made the transition to making "adult" music?

39I've got the first four or five records. Funnily enough, all the recordings he did while living in Berlin. I stopped listening to Nick Cave in the early 90s. I don't know why really, but when I think of Nick Cave and his music, its inevitably linked with living in Berlin in the late 80s. Since then Berlin has changed so much, I have changed a bit and somehow I can't go back to that period of my life. I'm sure he still puts out great stuff but I can't shake off the feeling of Nostalgia when listening to Nick Cave. Not neccessarily a bad thing I guess, but nothing I want to experience on a daily basis.

40i could take or leave Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. same with the Birthday Party.
although i have respect for these bands, and will occasionally listen to them (usually at someone else's behest), i've never felt any sort of deep-seeded attachment to their music.
i just can't get lost in The World According to Nick Cave. his particular strand of cool white people rock doesn't do much for me.
no matter what i'm listening to by him, it always comes off as very self-consciously Nick Cave's music, with NICK CAVE singing, and NICK FUCKING CAVE WEARING EXPENSIVE SUITS AND SMOKING CIGARETTES, AND DOING SMACK WHILE HE REGALES US WITH TELL-IT-LIKE-IT-IS CIRCUS TALES AND ELEGIAC BALLADS OF LONG-LOST GIRLFRIENDS.
if i was a woman i would probably find this more appealing.
my Mom likes Nick Cave.
