Obama s VP.

Virginia's demographics have definitely changed from when I was a kid, but there's still enough uncertainty about statewide seats that it might make an earlier-than-expected Senatorial fight really unappetizing for the local and national party.

But Warner is running for senate right now. And is way ahead.

Hell, Kaine could run for senate after his term as governor.

brilliant.

I was wondering how they could work around that myself.

Yeah, and Obama was a weak candidate who only won thanks to his primary opponent being a wife beater, his general opponent dropping out for wanting to bondage his Star Trek wife, and then the state GOP importing Alan Keyes (!) to take one for the team. What of it?

I'd add that there would be no Bill Clinton presidency without Ross Perot. But would you call Bill Clinton a "weak" candidate?

I'm not saying it's a guarantee they'd lose the seat, just that it'd be foolish for them not to consider it with the Senate count being so tight and a state that's pretty up-for-grabs.

The "I'm a chest-beating war hero who still opposes the Iraq war" thing is all Webb has going for him. It's redundant to Obama's anti-Iraq war stance, and the Iraq war is taking a back seat to the economy.

It makes less sense to try to eat at McBush's vet base with Webb than it does to pick a VP candidate with strong domestic policy credentials that appeals to working-class voters.

To drown in the present on the ripples of the past...there'd be no Hillary Clinton campaign without Ross Perot enabling Bill Clinton to win, and Obama would probably be facing a stronger and more competent opponent. Stupid Texicans, ruining the last 20 years.

You honestly think that's nothing? A freshman senator named Barack Hussein Obama is about to go up against John McCain for the presidency. "Chest-beating war hero former-republican-turned-democrat white guy who opposes Iraq and holds a senate seat in a red-state-turning-purple" is the perfect complement to BHO.

It's redundant to Obama's anti-Iraq war stance, and the Iraq war is taking a back seat to the economy.

Ever watch Webb's response to the President's State of the Union? A large portion is dedicated to economics, class disparity in particular.

Warner has no interest in running for VP because his wife won't allow it. It's a shame. If his wife would have allowed it he still would have screwed himself out of it by running for Senate because of the closeness of the races and the chance for Virginia to become blue at the Governors, Senate, and state Senate is really important in terms of working on making Virginia blue for years to come.

Kaine is not interested because he wants to finish his term as governor. If Obama is elected he will finish out his term and then take on a high profile role in his administration.

The gentleman from Ohio gets the nod. Richardson, while knowledgable and experienced as any there is, would be a liability in the debates.
