the Note? meh. not gonna miss it. best thing about that place was the pool tables.

You know, I went there about a year ago for a drink and I thought it was the most douchebaggy place I'd been. I haven't seen a show there. They seem to take up the slack for Bottom Lounge when it closed. Some decent bands play there, but I haven't been compelled to go see a show there.

The Cobra lounge is fucking hideous.

Eh...yeah...Cobra Lounge is kind of a douche-bag/tough guy hang out.

Even Delilah's and Exit can have sort of a nerd/dork appeal at times. Cobra Lounge just makes me feel like I'm gonna get beat for glancing at some meathead's woman's fake-tittied cleavage.

I like Tazzo at the Note. I hope this doesn't leave him jobless.
You call me a hater like that's a bad thing

Actually, it was originally called The Blue Note. Before it was The Blue Note, it was actually the Hot House, which closed in the mid-90's and then reopened in the south loop (and then closed a few years ago, I think).

Probably served with a cease and desist order from the Blue Note Club in NYC or the label.

I think that is exactly what happened.

shoulda changed it to The Brown Note, but I guess it's all water under the bridge now.

Are you saying that you don't take the Venga Bus to and from there for roller derby?

I haven't been to Roller Derby in awhile and when I did I wouldn't take the bus I'd meet everyone there after and even surrounded by sexy drunk roller derby girls I hated that fucking bar with a passion.

so it's specifically the douchebag males at the bar that ruin the Cobra Lounge? just curious, cause I thought the crowd was fine, the bud was $2, the layout was ideal, the live room was great sized, standing area bar area and booth seating all with views... basically there was nothing wrong and everything right. maybe it was just a total fluke, since my friends' band was playing? i'm looking forward to going back.

They fill empty premium bottles of booze with shitty well booze then charge you out the ass for a tiny little sip of it in your drink.
That's some horseshit, they threatened to kick me out when I called them on it.

Nice. I saw The Last Poets at the Hothouse back when it was on Milwaukee. That was amazing.

I like Delilah's, mainly for the whiskey and beer selection and (sometimes) the music. I also like chatting with Mike Miller. His knowledge of whiskey and beer is formidable and he has a good sense of humor.

Cobra can be OK if there's a good band playing, but it's not the sort of place I'd ever go to just hang out. It's funny, seem to remember the beer prices ranging from "high" to "outrageous", but maybe they recently lowered the price of Bud.
