I have one friend who recently moved there from Baton Rouge and loves it. However, HE'S FROM BATON ROUGE. That's like saying that the stewing pile of elephant dung that you're licking up is better than the cauldron of bat guano and gangrenous yak intestines you've just finished.

Do not move to Portland.

why's portland such a shit hole?

anyone have any experience with providence, RI?
that was on my list too, that place seems cool.

I dunno about Providence. I have a friend who moved there from Madison and he doesn't seem very happy about it. Plus, he's in a band there that sucks (as far as I can tell). He was in two pretty awesome bands previously. I hope he never finds this post (he almost certainly won't).

I don't know much else about Providence. They do have an Internet radio station that broadcasts only noise made in the city. That's promising (especially if you're on drugs or something).

I think the scene is heavily influenced by RISD. A lot of folks live there to be within striking distance of Boston and NYC is a doable day trip on the train. Very small city, heavily Portugese and Italian. The presence of Brown and Providence College keeps it from being too "townie" It is fairly cheap to live there, and lots of touring bands come through. The people I knew there are all refugees from Boston who wanted a house in the suburbs, and kept moving south of Boston until they hit a town they could afford. bingo, you're in Providence. Might be a tough scene to break into if you don't know anybody.

Cold in the winter, but not Wisconsin cold.

That really hurts. I'm not from Massachussetts, I'm from Maine. There's a difference, you know.

It's probably just Boulder I don't like. When my lease ends I'm moving to Longmont.

You know how people treat all of Southern California like it's represented solely by Los Angeles...

JHC! I didn't mean anything I said, I swear! Don't do anything rash, my man.
