For me, one of the unique things about living in the Bay Area was that most of it seemed pretty much a bubble; a place where if/when you openly express an opinion that likely would be construed as 'anti-establishment' or even 'radical' in most of the US, there, it's more often than not met with a nodding of the head, or at least not a threat of physical harm (for better or worse). But that was SF...(no props intended).
