I realize this is a joke, but Carlin certainly did not avoid those topics in his work. Here's a clip of him talking about American military policy. And on 9/11.

Great comic. I'm glad his first heart attack thirty years ago didn't kill him and he worked to produce even angrier, funnier material right up until the end.

RIP George Carlin.

Seeing some of his really later era stuff on youtube, no, he didn't look so hot, but it was by his sharp wit and clever word play coupled with how clear and well he communicated his spite for organized religion, the military, and the slippage of society into obesity, poor education, etc etc by which I guaged his health. The guy could have gone toe-to-toe with any twenty year old in the mental energy department.

Yeah, you can tell I just woke up. Buddy of mine had sent me an email last night, but that was after I went to bed.
This is going to get worse before it gets any better.

RIP George Carlin.

I was lucky enough to interview George Carlin for a community newspaper I used to write for, and he was a sharp, intelligent guy who was surprisingly modest about his accomplishments and thanked me for not asking dumb questions. I considered that high praise coming from him.

I saw him perform several times and he always delivered the goods. A very, very funny man. Sad news. RIP, George.

One of the last few non-dorks with any sort of position in the world to speak and be heard. He was fighting the dorkifying of the planet till his last day.

My personal views and feelings on almost everything I can think of follow very closely with his and always have.
