For a very short time, many yrs ago, there was a beauty salon in downtown Phoenix, Arizona called

Whoomp! Hair That Is!

No, not

Whoomp! Hair It Is!

it was definitely

Whoomp! Hair That Is!

I regret not taking a picture of the sign/storefront.

The coke deals were happening out of a house across the street from a well known music store in Atlanta that is now moved to another location. It was a lot of coke. I was sweating bullets driving it back to the studio. Connected to the studio was a hair dresser establishment called Hairbedashers, it was another den of iniquity that one could fall into if so inclined. All of this took place in the parking lot of a police precinct!

It's funny watching that video, they look warm and fuzzy and somewhat safe compared to gangsta rap videos of that era but these guys were real street characters that 'took care of business' so to speak.

Another time, while the engineer was away, some people I was with snorted up the rest of his stash thinking he wouldn't notice, since it was a small amount. He noticed... of course I was the only guy there when he found out and some of those Tag Team guys were there looking pissed, like I burned them. I remember that Gomer Pyle was on TV while they were interrogating me.

Gaaw-aawl-ly...Surprise, surprise, surprise!

Okay...so what happened post-interrogation? They obviously let you live, but what about the people you were with who snorted their shit?

It's funny about this song...my youngest brother, who's fifteen years younger than I am, used to sing this song.

Now I hear the dark backstory to the song a six year old innocently sang as I had to coax him out of the bathtub.

Still...I, for one, am left hanging as to the conclusion of this story.

Luckily, the Tag Team guys didn't really care because it wasn't their stuff, they were just around when the engineer guy that owned the studio realized his stash was gone. He was really mad and those guys were an intimidating presence.

That studio was full of drugs people and other assorted losers; a lot of creeps.

This guy was one of those bottom-feeder types that you're always warned of: bullshit production deals and 'points' on future 'earnings.'

I'm not sure what happened but I think the Tag team guys are still doing hard time in prison for cocaine dealing.

Heh. I always drop this when I DJ. It's currently my son's favorite song. He demands it every time he gets in my car.

I've only heard this song once in my life, when they lip-synced to it on Club MTV. I'm making a conscious effort to keep it that way.

I mean think about it, managing for 20 years to never encounter a song that was apparently a huge hit is no mean feat, and I'd like to see how long I can take it.
