You are fucking insane.

TJL has plenty of tension, but it doesn't have much to do with dynamics. Their go from maybe mezzoforte to really loud, with some silences thrown in. Slint has the fullest range.

Not that there's any reason for TJL to play softly or have long one-note timbral guitar solos or play an instrumental song with no climax.

McNeilly and Denison are among the best at their instruments, but they're not revolutionary. Walford and Pajo wrote a new book with Spiderland. If you don't enjoy that book, fine, but for me it's such a kick to listen to Slint because the musicians make so many decisions out of left field, and it almost always works.

I should stop here, but I was surprised to see people picking Mogwai in a poll of them vs. Slint. Mogwai is often a caveman version of Slint. Slint gets from quiet to loud with sensitive playing, cymbal washes, groove, slight chord changes, and so on. Mogwai uses the "Sudden And Predictable Violent Distorted Guitar" strategy, and Slint knows better.

Maybe Slint is my Cocorosie, you ever thought of that? No.

Mr. Costumes is right on the money.

I still don't really think Spiderland is all that great. Bland. At times boring. The first and final tracks are all I really listen to off of it anymore.

I still think Goat is one of the greatest rock albums of all-time. Seriously. Just a wonderful album, perfect the whole way through, perfect any time I put it on, just perfect.

My vote ties this bitch, 20-20.

Spiderland. I believe that both records are untouchable at catching what each band excelled at. I love Goat, it is more frenetic, funny, grotesque and personable. I would prefer this album of the two to have a drink with. It takes me to bizarre places.

Spiderland, however, has made its own continent. I reckon that it sounds a lot more like it was made by a group of close friends with their own peculiar language and their own peculiar world. It brings the spook better than any record I've heard. It probably is the record that I've loved the most.

I choose Spiderland over Goat with no second thought.
