When I advance shows I always check to see I we can leave the gear at the venue. It doesn't eliminate risk but it's better than pushin luck, pushin gear in your rooms or sleeping in van. You'd be surprised how many venues will accomodate. If they are unwilling often a nice gratuity helps.

That is a bummer.

With great respect to the Stooges, this is worth more than everything else combined.

Mike Watt was on the radio up here being interviewed about the theft. He was a little bummed, but had the best attitude about it. He liked that his final ride with [her] (his bass), was a particularly crazy good show with the Stooges. Not an ounce of bitter in his voice, just some sorrow.
Unrelated,
How do you get a bunch of hot equipment to japan real fast? The dude I had setup is a total flake.

Mike Watt has been through some shit.

Greg, I'd suggest shipping that stolen Stooges equipment via bulk freight, in crates. Maybe label it 'textbooks' or 'garbage' or something.

I want to take a box cutter to the face of anyone who steals equipment.

that is the lowest form of humanity... to take something away from someone who has decided to "do something" with their lives, steal fucking TVs, not guitars. OR better yet, get a fucking job and/or just die.

what if they and their family were starving and needed to steal or else the babies would die? He couldn't find a TV to steal.

then "he" fails as a father and his children should rightfully die because he is unable to do his job as a human...

then he will learn and either "do better at life" or die himself.

The story has always been that the drummer and guitar player stole all the Sex Pistols backline from Bob Marley and the Wailers. By breaking into a theater in London where Marley was playing for several days and stealing it by moving it to their nearby apartment.

Marley did have gear stolen and that gear was the same as the backline of the sex pistols.
