I'll need to do some research (or someone who feels like it can), but I'm quite sure Prince expressed an admiration for Ronald Reagan during the 1980 campaign.

And wasn't Eazy-E a Repuplican contributor?

And didn't anybody see the news blip about the Jesus Lizard getting back together for a G.W. Bush hootenany?

OK. That last one was a joke. Cough.
there is only one clear path and it's paved with bacon.

We're going on a very loose definition of Republican. Sinatra, though he may have supported Nixon, was a huge JFK supporter. I think most people would consider Sinatra of the 50's and 60's his peak, and the Sinatra of the 70's useless.

Also, I couldn't find any quotes on Sun Ra's political affiliation, beyond the need for there to be a Black House, and that the White House should be sent to the moon. I'm unaware if these are current Republican issues.

So...Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and Skynyrd make the list, and Gene Simmons doesn't? It baffles me that people seem to consider Kiss more crap than Skynyrd or Steely Dan (who I despise more than most bands). I'm trying to come up with a suitably tasteless Skynyrd "fire-breathing" joke, but am coming up with nothing. It's probably for the best.
