NOT CRAP

This movie really got to me when it came out--I saw it three times in the theater. Years later I rented it and it wasn't the same. There's this one scene where Billy is on the front steps of his parent's house and he's like "don't touch me / hold me" and it seemed artificial. I couldn't watch past that point. Maybe in the theater it just tricked me cause it looks beautiful.

great film. funny. great use of prog rock.

brown bunny was boring, even watching a skank suck a sleezeball.

i loved it... granted i haven't seen it in probably 7 years, but i think i'd still like it... yes was a bonus.
but what's with the vincent gallo vodka commercials?

Actually, it's the lack of exposition that I appreciate. There isn't a reason and you don't know, except for a really quick case of Stockholm Syndrome.

The movie's main strength, I think, is its atmosphere. It can be incredibly chilly and distant and still feel intimate.

I remember reading that Gallo had stated he'd never finished reading a novel and that he was generally not a literary or well read person. That maybe works for Buffalo 66 in a way that it didn't work for Brown Bunny. The scenes between actors in Buffalo 66 seemed, for the most part, pretty direct and not really affected by much. Brown Bunny, for the most part, lacked other actors that Gallo could react to.

I really love how Gallo cast this film's supporting roles...
Gazzara, A. Houston, Mickey Rourke, Jan-Michael Vincent, Rosanna Arquette.
There is something very consistent about those choices, and while I don't really care to nail down the reasons why in a few sentences, I feel like I would have gone for the same actors had I been casting or directing.
