Yeah, they sure aren't The Silver Bullet Band, huh?
A more apt comparison would be the Bob Seger System, another power trio active in the late 60's. I think that they're better than Cream, just as Bob Seger's 70's stuff with the Silver Bullet Band is much better (overall) than Clapton's solo work, Derek & the Dominos notwithstanding (which I actually like).

As I've gotten older, I have much more respect for Cream. When I was a kid, I thought Ginger Baker was a shitty drummer (and Hendrix was a sloppy guitar player).
Their recent Live at the Albert Hall DVD is pretty damn good. I call Not Crap.

I dunno, I like the sound of Jack Bruce's bass. I've never really sat down and listened to an album of theirs, but I don't mind hearing them on the radio or whatever.

I imagine Cream where quite exciting in their era. Then again, they had to contend with the rise of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Battle of the power trios! Disraeli Gears is a fine album. Tales of Brave Ulysses is a great song. Mostly not crap.

Yep.
NC for the most part. However, EC is by far one of the most over rated guitarists in the history of rock.
