Imagine this: I steal your car. When accused of grand theft auto, I say I didnt do it. It turns out when the car is recovered, that my fingerprints are on the steering wheel and on the handle of the big screwdriver sitting on the floor of the passenger seat, the same screwdriver used to pluck the starter switch from the steering column like an eyeball from a skull. The fingerprints are evidence that I am lying.

Now imagine that you "spam" a web forum with an unsolicited enticement to fans of "radiohead, mogwai and trail of dead" to buy your CD. When accused of spammery, you say you didnt do it. It turns out, after the fact, that an identical posting from around the same time was found on a similar web forum. The identical post is evidence that you were lying.
