I took a few snowboard lessons and was starting to get the hang of it. A couple of my friends convinced me to do this "easy" blue run with them. I was going down this one run - lost my balance and over-corrected - and pulled off a perfect 360. I thought to myself, "that was fucking cool - if only I could do that on purpose".
Unfortunately, I never learned how to do it on purpose. One day...
I'm too old to give a fuck about the cultures associated with either.
Either-Or: Skiing vs. Snowboarding
32i made the switch from skis to snowboard yesterday. i am so very sore, but anxious to try it again. the powder was excellent. it only hurt falling off the chairlift.
Either-Or: Skiing vs. Snowboarding
34snowboarding, definitely, just because it's so fun and nothing, not even anything similar (like skiing, or skateboarding or wakeboarding...) can ever match the fun of snowboarding for me. skiers who think snowboarders are jerks or whatever, obviously theyre just jealous.
but skiing is a great time. while snowboarding is more known for jumping off jumps and doing tricks, i find that jumps and what not can be just as fun with skiing, because you hit it HEAD ON.
i made the same switch like 8 years back, after 8+ years of skiing. yeah the chairlift was a pain for me the first few times; i'm assuming you're talking about a rough time getting off the chairlift at the end, rather than just falling off a chairlift mid-ride. anyhow, i have been really glad with my choice in switching to snowboarding, though i'm sure i will ski again one day also.

36you're either with us or against us...
I've never skied but I aint have a beef with it.
What pisses me off on mountain is:
-Crowding the chair ramp.
-Stopping middle of piste to catch up with your goodtime buddies.
-Holding onto the "downhill has right of way" rule,
when common sense says otherwise. It's like
stepping out into traffic on a zebra crossing. "But I've got right of way..."
-The fashion in general.
I'd go back to the one piece james bond henchman suits rather than see
one of those fucken hats with the fucken things hanging off them. What the fuck.
That said, I did a month boarding trip in the states over January. It's probably the friendliest hills I've been on. Besides Japan, but that'll be expected. (The groundcrew at the airport gather round and bow as your plane takes off).
Not too much traffic, some great snow, great terrain, some decent parks.

37Someone needs to make lifts that are easier to dismount on a snowboard. That shit's unfair.
Snowboarding all the way, I liken skiers to those winged monkeys from Wizard of Oz.

38Skiing.
I really enjoy it. I don't understand why many people here class skiers as assholes. I've never encountered the snobbery skiing in Scotland.
