As if the music wasn't enough on it's own. Warren is funnier than 98% of
stand up comics out there.
I was in tears last time out..

I can not think of any adequate adjectives that would convey how great this band is, for the longest time I only owned 'Horse Stories' but recently picked up 'Cinder' and 'Whatever You Love, You Are'; Warren Ellis' playing has inspired me to add the violin to my pathetic musical resume. From what I've read here, Ocean Songs is definitely going to be my next music purchase.

Great stuff, only a few waffles.
"I Really Should've Gone Out Last Night" (southern website version) is my favorite song.
I always liked Jim Whites drumming
I never got to see Dirty Three, but I did see Mick Turner solo a few years back (must've been '02 or '03) when he came to town with TJO (her and the band crashed at our place, really, really nice people).
I remember Mick was doing the one man band thing, looping all the parts live while a projection screen showed a video of him doing a painting in sync with the song. I was quite impressed to say the least!

I'm surprised that it can be so moving on a record, too.
(But as far as Wolf Eyes is concerned...one time I saw them and they were
great and terrifying to boot...a later time they did not seem very good).

There's a great video of them playing a few songs in a television studio on google video
here. The quality is not the best, especially when blown up to full screen, but it's still a great watch. I think that this recording MIGHT be part of the two disc edition of Ocean Songs, but I'm not positive. Either way, enjoy! Also, I got that Mick Turner/Tren Brothers collection the other day and it seems like if you're jonesing for some new dirty three, this could hold you over a bit. It's pretty good. Some of it was recording at EA, yes?

I think they've probably played 3 of my top five best shows.
Last time I saw them they closed with 'Maggie May' with Ellis on mandolin.
